HIKING
The geography of Elche is conditioned by water and its usage. In the wetland areas, the irrigation channels that wind their way alongside the groves of palm trees, the Nature Reserves of El Hondo or Las Salinas, or even the pine forests next to the beaches of La Marina and El Carabassí, there are areas of the Elche countryside which may be visited on foot, and which allow the visitor to really feel part of these environments of great biodiversity and of a cultural heritage of enormous richness. Other pathways run along the waterside of the entire course of the Vinalopó River and through the Nature Reserve of Clot de Galvany.
In the city centre, the Palm Grove Route is a walk by major urban gardens begining and ending in the San Plácido grove, where the Palm Grove Museum is located.
