Procesión de las Aleluyas

On Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday morning, the Procession of the Alleluias takes place. It involves the images of the Resurrected Christ and the city’s patroness, the Virgin of the Assumption, carried by the members of various brotherhoods, this time without their hoods. In Elche, this procession has a unique character. As the floats pass by, the streets of the city become flooded with a rain of thousands of “alleluias,” small colorful prints with various religious allegories, which are thrown from the balconies and terraces of the houses by the people of Elche themselves.

The origins of this procession date back to the 18th century.

COFRADÍA DEL CRISTO RESUCITADO Y FERVOROSA HERMANDAD DE NAZARENOS DE LA FLAGELACIÓN Y GLORIA.

Salida: 10:00h. Itinerario: Fira, Major de la Vila, Plaça Menéndez Pelayo, Alfons XII, Pont de Santa Teresa, Plaça del Pont, Major del Plà, Marià Benlliure, Andreu Castillejos, Reina Victoria, en el cruce de Jorge Juan donde se realizará a las 11:30h aproximadamente el ENCUENTRO de “LA VIRGEN DE LA ASUNCIÓN y el CRISTO RESUCITADO”.

JUNTA MAYOR DE COFRADÍAS Y HERMANDADES: NUESTRA PATRONA LA VIRGEN DE LA ASUNCIÓN

Salida: 10:15h. Itinerario: Plaça del Congrés Eucarístic, Plaça del Palau, Pont d’Altamira, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Marqués d’Asprella entrando a la Plaça d´España por la izquierda. En la puerta principal de la Parroquia del SAGRADO CORAZÓN DE JESÚS será venerada nuestra Patrona con una Salve. Siguiendo por las calles José María Buck, Ruperto Chapí, Jorge Juan a Reina Victoria.

En el cruce entre las calles Reina Victoria y Jorge Juan, se realizará a las 11:30h. aproximadamente, el ENCUENTRO del “CRISTO RESUCITADO y LA VIRGEN DE LA ASUNCIÓN”.
La procesión continuará por Reina Victoria, Pont Nou, Plaça de Baix, Corredora, Pont dels Ortissos, Capità Lagier, Uberna, Plaça del Congrés Eucarístic a la Basílica de Santa María.

AL FINALIZAR LA PROCESIÓN: MISA SOLEMNE

Dichos actos serán presididos por la Junta Mayor de Cofradías y Hermandades, el Ilustrísimo. Sr. Vicario Episcopal de la zona y Autoridades locales.
